I watched a bit of your stuff and although the topic is not entirely in my interest area, it was very well done and quite amusing. You are obviously an extrovert and you like what you are doing.

The more unique your material, the more likely you are to attract a specific audience.

You have a super high level of creativity and I can see that you will develop a following. My advice – keep each video in the 5-7 minute range. Each video must have its topic and you need to offer that topic quite clearly. So the video of being in the forest with the rain – you said you were out to do photography. Maybe you cut it to 5 minutes. Nobody will stay with you for 31 minutes. Maybe your appreciation of what saturated light offers to photography in the rain could have been your topic and then play that idea for a short time. Again, you have a unique personality and there is certainly some cool stuff on your site.

As for SEO just to get you there, I’d say a good thumbnail is important. Ask yourself what others might see in your thumbnail and how it would catch their interest – forget your love of the image, whether you look good in the picture, its what others see that counts. Also the thumbnail must accurately portray what is in the video. People will feel ripped off if you feed them click-bait.

Most importantly be yourself and let people see who you are. There has to be that connection and you should try to interact with your subscribers. If it’s meant to be it will happen.

Hey – I had bookmarked this to come back when I hit 1000 – hit it 3 weeks ago. So around 17 months. But I have to say my upload schedule is still terrible, and my video quality, although getting better, is still very amateur at best.

I noticed a wierd slowing down of subscribers at just before the 1000 – that will be that old human nature / psychological levels thing that you see in the stock markets probably… after it broke 1000 it shot up pretty quick (for me) another 100.

But yeah, interesting journey, and again thankyou for the article 🙂
